Diavik Diamond Mines

Lac de Gras Site, Northwest Territories
Diavik Diamonds Mine is located 300 km north of Yellowknife, NWT, Canada. Diamond production started in January 2003, and the mine life is estimated to be between 16 and 22 years.

The A154 open pit continues to produce top quality Canadian Diamonds and the new A418 dike allowing pit pre-stripping commenced in early 2007.

Underground development has reached the A418 ore body and a bulk sample program is underway to provide information for the detailed mine design. Underground ramping continues towards the A154 ore body and will allow underground production to commence in late 2008. Preparations are also being made to test and mine the new A21 kimberlite pipe (approximately 4.5 km distant).

Merit are providing project management services to implement cost, schedule, contracts and purchasing systems as DDMI continues to expand their management team.
