Position:Project Accountant Location: Overseas and North America
Maintaining cost management records of budgets, expenditures, forecast and cash flow. Producing monthly cost reports and handling all project invoices. Merit has developed a project cost system based on industry standards, but tailored to the needs of project and construction management. In addition it can integrate with most Owner's general accounting systems.
Merit recently updated its' project cost system to include the best of the previous system and add some additional utilities to help it fit a wider spectrum.
DUTIES
Prepare and review AFE's and compare to budget items
Monitoring budgets
Coding all invoices including contractors and Owner costs
First approval of all invoices including attachment of P.O.'s and receiving slips
Producing cost reports, cash flow graphs and variance analysis on a monthly basis for inclusion into the monthly report
Payment of all invoices on a timely basis
Bank reconciliations and cash requirements for treasury
Monthly report of GST paid for claim back
Ensuring PST is only paid when necessary
Entering major commitments into the costs for early signs of overruns
Balancing inter-company accounts on a monthly basis.
The ideal candidate should have a minimum of 10 years experience in the construction accounting field. A degree in any accounting designation is preferred. The applicant should have good people and management skills to ensure the successful implementation of the construction plan.
