Position:Electrical & Instrumentation Manager Location: Overseas and North America
The Electrical Coordinator will be primarily involved with coordinating electrical design, construction, and commissioning of electrical equipment and powerlines (both high voltage and secondary distribution).
DUTIES:
Engineering
Coordinate engineering, as required
Review electrical drawings prior to start of work, if required
Confirm suitability of electrical equipment specifications
Liaise with Owner representatives to ensure equipment to be installed is approved
Construction
Manage (not supervise) the work
Ensure electrical and instrumentation work is completed properly and in accordance with engineered specifications, drawings and prevailing Codes and Practices
Liaison between engineering and construction firms as required
Coordinate contractor(s) doing work on-site and keep track of the work being done
Coordinate 'Requests for Information' between the contractor and engineer
Assist with troubleshooting if required
Coordinate with vendor representatives as required including for commissioning
Manage safety issues associated with the electrical and instrumentation portion of the project, as well as contribute to the overall project safety management programme.
Quality Assurance
Undertake QA checks on all electrical & instrumentation
Participate in weekly and monthly project safety meetings
Administration
Administration of contracts
Prepare site instructions as need and approved by CM
Assist purchasing/buying personnel with sourcing and pricing of equipment and materials
Prepare Change Orders for approval by the CM
Take part in cost forecasting
Recordkeeping
Prepare record of activities as required for inclusion into daily, weekly and monthly reports
Maintain a diary log
The ideal candidate should have a minimum of 15 years experience in piping electrical / instrumentation in the mining industry. The applicant should have good people and management skills.
